Terms and Conditions

The terms behind the tool.

These terms apply when you use News Intelligence, the checker built by PIJAlance Magazine at chatniai.com. By signing up or using the checker, you agree to them. Last updated: 10 October 2026.

What News Intelligence is

News Intelligence is an AI-assisted research and verification tool, built and operated by PIJAlance Magazine Limited. You submit a claim; it searches available evidence and returns a verdict with sources. It is currently in testing.

Answers are produced by AI and can be wrong. Always read the sources for yourself before relying on a verdict or sharing it further.

Not professional advice

News Intelligence is a research aid, not a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial or safety advice, and its verdicts are not a legal finding of fact. Claims about certain sensitive matters — such as deaths, sexual assault or elections — are held for review by a human PIJAlance editor before a final verdict is published, as explained on our How it works page; even then, treat every answer as one input among others, not the final word.

Acceptable use

When using News Intelligence, you agree not to:

Intellectual property

The News Intelligence name, the "Ni" mark, and the design of this website belong to PIJAlance Magazine Limited. You're welcome to share a fact-check card as generated, with attribution to PIJAlance News Intelligence, for non-commercial use such as correcting a claim you've seen circulating. Any other reuse of our branding or content needs our written permission.

Usage statistics and featuring users

We count how News Intelligence is used (which tool, on which day, from which country and region) and may publish totals, for example in annual reports and to funders and partners. These totals never include what you typed or uploaded, and small regions are grouped so no one can be picked out.

We name an individual as an outstanding user, in a report, award or similar recognition, only if that person has switched on the option in Settings to be featured. It is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time. Being featured or not has no effect on your access, limits or the verdicts you receive.

Third-party sources

Verdicts link to sources on other websites so you can check them yourself. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability or accuracy.

Free accounts, daily checks, subscriptions and paid access

Every account starts free. A free account gets 50 checks a day, shared across every tool (heavy tools such as Thoth and audio or video count as 2), and sees part of each answer: the verdict, the reference and the opening lines, while the full explanation and the sources are for subscribers, newsrooms and organisations. Credits can extend a free account. We may change limits, prices and what is free, and we will show the current terms on the Pricing page. Locked tools such as Thoth are available only to journalists we approve, and we may decline or withdraw access, for example if the details you gave are false or the tool is misused. Payments, once open, will be described on the Pricing page before you pay.

No warranty, limited liability

News Intelligence is provided "as is," in testing, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any verdict is accurate or complete. To the fullest extent the law allows, PIJAlance Magazine Limited is not liable for losses or damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, News Intelligence.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or that we reasonably believe puts the service, other users or third parties at risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as News Intelligence develops. We'll change the "last updated" date above when we do; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts.
